Giant Babies

Nowadays, because of China’s fast development in general comprehensive national strength, an increasing number of people called “giant baby” is considering their country as their “housekeepers”, which means that they have kept in mind that the country should always try it best to ensure their lives wherever they are instead of that they need to protect themselves in person. It is a shame that they rely so much on their country and even ignore the rules and laws. In the following passage, what I am going to do is to show the problems as well as some real cases.
The latest event could be the most representative examples of people described as “giant babies”. The volcanic eruption in Bali Island on 11/25/2017 caused plenty of security problems of tourists from different countries all over the world. Surprisingly, Chinese government arranged up to six commercial planes from China Southern Airlines to Bali Island to meet the rescue need of seventeen thousand Chinese travelers. The retreat only took five days in total which showed that the high efficiency of Chinese government. However, because the airlines were taken from commercial civil planes, the occupation of plane using should be paid. The law has clearly stipulated that the government cannot pay for the extra bill of rescue or dispatch the military aircrafts only when people are in the serious and emergent situation like wars where people are possible to get hurt. As a consequence, tourists should paid for the plane tickets. Unfortunately, they thought that the country is obliged to guarantee their safety wherever they are, so the bill should be paid by the government obviously. How ridiculous they were! There was no reason that the government should undertake all the payment instead of the tourists. Each traveler should be thankful to the contribution made by the government that Chinese government had pay a lot attention on their personal safety through asking commercial planes for help when none of the airline company were willing to fly to places where geological problems like volcanic eruption according to the common sense.
Another incident can show how unreasonable as well as irresponsible the “giant baby” people’s behaviors are. Several college students from Fudan University in China chose an abnormal way in the mountain which had never been chosen of all time. They ignored the warning and went on the way which concealed plenty of danger desperately and stubbornly. Unfortunately, they finally got lost. However, they met the rescue team include 200 policemen and firemen in the midnight. The best solution was staying pass the night and going down the mountain until dawning. They were so irresponsible as well as selfish that they imposed the team to lead the way to go downhill for them and shouted that they should be in Shanghai at once. Because of the constant insistent, the police agreed. The bad weather and unsmooth mountain road caused the death of a policeman. What made people madder was that they even did not say one word to apologize for their mistake and wayward demand and left as if nothing had occurred. Though a great number of enthusiastic people had blamed them on the internet, they were still remaining indifferently and keeping showing their disrespect through refusing to take part in the funeral of the innocent policeman who died. It’s a pity that students who are from such a good university and had received the best education in China had done something really hurtful.
From the aforementioned two cases can we conclude that the psychological mind which can be determined as considering others’ help at emergent moment as a matter of course and things that people should do for them voluntary is becoming a normal phenomenon in China nowadays. “Giant Babies’” behaviors are ridiculous but the conclusion that plenty of Chinese are doing the same thing every day is completely not exaggerating. In my opinion, this kind of mass behavior can be attributed to the loophole of our country’s basic education. Luckily, more and more schools including both elementary ones and senior highs are making more effort on cultivating students’ social responsibility, which makes a lot contribution to the national comprehensive qualities. I propose that everyone can keep in mind that people should do more for the society instead of ask for more from others, they might change their immature behaviors through some small stuffs gradually.
